About US

St. Michaels Day Support Program (SMDS) is a licensed non-profit day activity program under the auspieces of the Franciscan Brethren of St. Phillip. It is a Medicaid Waiver Developmental Disability Activity Program open Monday through Friday 8am - 3pm. The purpose of the SMDS program is to provide individualized and personal services that address the needs of each developmentally / intellectually disabled participant. Our program is designed to allow the participants to have an opportunity to increase their activities of daily living, increase their independence, social skills, and community awareness opportunities. It is also designed to encourage self-esteem, provide structure, and promote productive efforts that support the personal growth and goals of each individual.

Our Day Support Services provide individualized programming for adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on skill development, community integration, and personal growth. The program operates on weekdays and offers structured activities designed to promote independence and enhance quality of life.

Eligibility

Individuals eligible for our Day Support Services typically include those with developmental disabilities who would benefit from structured daytime programming. Eligibility is determined based on:

  • Have a documented developmental disability.
  • Are enrolled in the Virginia DD Waiver(Medicaid Developmental Disabilities Waiver) or meeet DBHDS (Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services)licensing criteria.
  • Require 24/7 supervision, skill building, and routine support.
